I like to use smart filters for stuff like waiting for (wf) and development (dev).
It would be nice to have an smart add input box like on overview that allows you to add from smart filter pages, and will default to adding the tags in the smart filter.
So if I have a smart filter labels in wf && done = false and I go to that page, then add a task, it will automatically get the wf tag. This is one thing I really liked with Remember the Milk that Vikunja still doesn’t have.
Either way, I should be able to add tasks from these pages and not have to go back to overview to add a task.
If you’re in a saved filter, to which project should the task be added when the filter does not have a project set? or multiple?
I would assume inbox, but I don’t usually use projects (most of the time). I prefer Smart Filters and Labels.
Does that mean most of your tasks are stored in the inbox project?
Yes, with tags. I do have projects for “projects” where I use Kanban and so on. but for most tasks they are independent things. I do want to tag them for things like “waiting for”, “development”, “for sale”, and other things, which I guess would be your concept of a project.
Moving tasks between projects is very janky in Vikunja (lots of clicks) where tags just work more logical. The smart filters give me similar experience as Smart Lists in Remember the Milk which is how I do most of my organization.
Projects are really useful for development projects where I want to use Kanban though, so I do use projects, but only for what I would consider a large project that I’d want something like Kanban.
