Currently, “Show overdue tasks” will be unticked if you refresh or navigate away from the Upcoming page.
I find this view very useful to see immediate tasks that should have been attended to, and it’s annoying to need to tick that box each time.
I understand I could create a custom view but this would be a simple and useful addition.
Also persisting the date range would be useful - I could set it to “Today”.
In writing this, perhaps this is more a reflection on the Overview tab. An alternative suggestion could be that the Overview tab could have an option to only show items that are overdue or due today, as I find seeing all of the tasks listed and the “Last Viewed” projects above that quite distracting. The main thing I need to see is “What tasks are overdue or need to be done right now.”
Would it work for you if the setting was persisted in the current browser only?
So you mean showing all tasks clutters it? Since tasks due soon or overdue are already shown at the top?
If you want to further restrict it, you can create a filter for the tasks you want to see.
Yes that would be great, no need to persist on backend.
Yes the “Last viewed” section is particularly cluttered. For me all of those items are already listed on the left side, so it’s just duplicated information.
In fact, I do not use any of these buttons.
Overview - Quick way to add a task, but I’d prefer to add it to my main list manually. Upcoming - Not useful right now as preferences don’t persist. Projects - all my projects are already listed on the left, so this is duplicate information. Labels - I don’t use labels right now, but I can see how it would be useful. Teams - I am the only one using this board. (In fact I’d love an option to turn this off as well).
That seems like a good solution. I’ve added a simple filter with “done = false && dueDate < now+5d”. Thanks.
An option to hide some of those default sections would be useful (or perhaps they could collapse into a single item?)
You could also have an option where some items are hidden when the arrow is clicked, but the ones you care about are shown.
(e.g. 1 item shown):
Slack is another good example.
Another suggestion would be to have “Projects” as one of these arrow > tabs, and your projects could be under that. Then the option for creating a new Projects would be under the “…” menu, removing the need for the Projects page.
Filters and Labels could be under the same system or a similar system.
