I have to aggree on that, so i will highjack your post to say the same thing.
I have tried around 30 different kanban / todo application and i was always disapointed to the lack of nesting or creating complex project relations, as well as their price. finally i saw vikunja and ticks 99% of the stuff that i wanted to do.
