This is one hell of a request, but not bringing it into discussion would pain my heart.
I love the Task-list meets Timeboxing approach of sunsama and ellieplaner and I think it would improve vikunja a lot as well. It turns a collection of to-do’s into something actually planable.
There is an item in the backlog for a calendar view, which should enable manual time blocking. It’s not a particular high-priotity though.
No, that’s the Gantt view. The calendar view will look more like a calendar you might know from other calendar applications like Google Calendar.

It combines a infinite kanban-like calendar a classic calendar and a task-list and it’s just lovely to use for planning… At least for me, I feel people either click with it 100% or 0% 
This looks great. It’s similar to what I was using in a paper planner but with the convenience of it being digital. Thanks for sharing!
