Feature request - Export a task as PDF

I sometimes use Vikunja as less of a todo list and more of a tracker. For example, I am in the process of buying a house so each house has a todo item, and im using this to log each lead and add comments about the property, store attachments, schedule viewings etc.

When someone asks “hey how did X go”, unless I give them a Vikunja account, theres no easy way to share this information.

It would be nice to be able to export a task as a PDF, showing the title, due dates, description, comments etc. Leaving out attachments, progress, priorities etc would be fine - just a raw info dump. The web page for a task is currently not print friendly, so its not even like you can print the page to pdf and ignore the clutter.

I’m not saying that the pages print well, and I wouldn’t expect them to. But what exactly do you mean by “currently not print friendly”?
I just tested “Print… > PDF” on Chrome 127.0.6533.120 on Windows 11, and it looked surprisingly good. Sure, there’s some fluff around the page, but in your use case that would probably be fine.

It sounds like print to pdf could work for you, if you want to share only a single task.

Another option would be link share, but then you’d need to share the whole project.

Ah, so on Firefox (for me at least), print to PDF will never spill into a second page so text will overlap and become unreadable if you have anything more than like 2 comments. Otherwise, yes, print to PDF would work

Gotcha, that’s a bug. It seems to be fine when you access the task via the list view, not as a popup through the kanban board.

Yep, works from list or table!
Ill close the issue for now then as this is a good enough workaround for what I need.

Pretty PDF exports might be a nice to have in the future but obviously this is super low priority.
