Hi, there!
Fresh user, so bare with me, please!
I’ve created my teams, then I’ve added a new list, with tasks. I cannot assign any users to any task besides my own user because no other names appear in the search box.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks!
Bogdan
Hi Bogdan
Do the users appear when you search for their usernames in the search bar? If you want to be able to search them by their email address or name (not username) they have to allow that in the user settings.
Hi!
Thanks for answering!
No, the users don’t appear in the searchbox when I try to assign them a specific task. I am only able to see my own user.
Any ideeas why? Is there a setting that I’m missing?
Thanks for this beautiful application!
Bogdan
Does it make a difference if you share the list directly with them (not through a team)? Can you reproduce this on try?
No, I cannot reproduce on try.vikunja.io, because there is no other user available than the “demo” one.
Disregard my comments, I was using it in a wrong way.
I finally understood that you have to first share your project with other users to be able to assign them some tasks…
My bad.
Thanks for all your support!
Bogdan

Makes sense. Glad you figured it out!
Not to wake a dead horse, but what if I don’t want team-members to see the whole project? Just a task from a number of different projects…
Currently I have to “show” them the whole project so they can see their singular item in it, which they have to search for, find, or filter themselves. And more than that, If I want them to be able to edit the ONE task they are assigned to they have to be given access to write privileges to all the other tasks in the project because thats the only place it appears those privileges exist.
This cant be as intended. Am I missing something? I mean I miss things… a lot.
There is really no point of necromancing a 3y old thread after you already posted a new one for the same topic… Assigning a Task without Assigning the Project
I romanced this first, then realized it was 3 years old… so… thanks
