When I duplicate a project the new duplicated project is created with all task also duplicated (two copies of each task) within it.

Yes, exactly that.
On another topic, someone pointed out that if you delete the views and recreate it at the original project before duplicating it, it solves the issue. Weird, but worked for me too.
