Discourse: Enable AI-Powered "Related Topics" on Topic Overview Pages (SOLVED)

Hello Community,

I appreciate the existing AI functionality in Discourse (platform we’re currently on) that detects similar tasks when creating a new one. It helps prevent duplicates and keeps discussions organized.

I propose extending this AI-driven semantic analysis to general topic pages, similar to the “Related Topics” feature in the Joplin Discourse community (example). This would surface relevant discussions at the bottom of each topic page.

Why This Matters

:white_check_mark: Improves Discoverability – Helps users find relevant discussions effortlessly.
:white_check_mark: Reduces Fragmentation – Encourages engagement in existing topics instead of creating duplicates.
:white_check_mark: Boosts Engagement – Keeps users interacting within the community longer.
:white_check_mark: Leverages Existing AI – The infrastructure is already in place, making this a natural next step.

Would love to hear the community’s thoughts!

I see that the something similar is already there when creating a topic and it is accurate and helpful.

But it would be so much better if it could be shown under each topic.

That’s not AI, just a plain database search.

Do you have a link to a Discourse plugin which does that?

I think that’s it:

I’ve reached out to Joplin founder Laurent to double check if that seems like what was required. I’ll get back to you.

It seems like this has been it. I’ve now enabled and installed it here.

Oh wow really?? Amazing!
That’s a big improvement over here IMHO.
Thank you!

You’re welcome! Glad it’s useful.

Huh, I’ve also noticed topics now have Summarize button that generates AI overview of the topic & replies - nice!
