Good morning everyone!
I was using an application called cria for awhile but started running into some of the limitations of an unmaintained code base and bugs. I was relying on it so much to stay in the terminal, and in flow, that I decided to create my own product (inspired by cria, no code shared).
Announcing tui-do - GitHub - sjwasko/tui-do: A fast, local-first terminal client for Vikunja · GitHub.
Why? I love Vikunja. I love self hosted. I love the terminal and wanted a first class TUI citizen for interrfacing with Vikunja. I also wanted offline capability so I could work on my tasks when disconnected and queue them up. I also wanted something that could allow AI agents to interact with tasks and have started the foundation for that in the first GA release.
My first ambitious FLOSS app, vibe coded. I have 35 years in Enterprise IT architecture but am not a developer so please be kind. Hoping the app makes those people happy that see it’s value!
On the bubble:
-
a standalone version - it’s a cool app (if I do say so myself) so using it without a Vikunja backend is on the roadmap for those that want to experience and use it that way
-
MacOS port - I’ve been in the Apple ecosystem since 1981 so want to get this done as well
-
Agentic AI driven - let’s build this together! AI agents grabbing, modifying, writing tasks and moving them across Kanban boards - the plumbing is there - the future is ours to build.
-
WSL support (I guess we should do this as well
) -
Features that didn’t make it into GA (comments, sub tasks, etc)
Thank you!
