My team and I really depend on time estimations and logging the Hours for tasks. This helps us know how much work the tasks actually took and how much we thought it would take, and also, we get reports from logged hours and, for example, find out how many hours or points of work were spent on a select label or type of task (Let’s say I want to know how many bug fixes I did last month)
And this type of tracking our work really isn’t possible with the current start and due dates, and it would be great if we could have an estimation and work log feature for tasks that also shows up on the task card or task details as “Progress” of the task, either with a progress bar or preferably with a “10h/5h” label

For a worklog feature.
For me it would be of great value to simply have a worklog field that holds the effort of the task.
I’d use this relational information to export a worklog at a later point.
In an optimal world, it could also have a timer function like Tempo in Jira - but this is a nth.
And by the way - I prefer Vikunja A LOT over Trello already! It has some little UX flaws but the overall experience is actually better - simply because of its responsiveness and cleanliness. GREAT WORK!!!

I agree, just a simple estimation & log field would be more than enough
I imagine it like this i would add a simple estimation number field(since it can be used like story points) and then on top of that i would add a worklog number field
And like many other fields, when you add them to a task, they show up on the task card. These estimation and worklog numbers would show up as well
I’m running into the exact same limitation. Vikunja works great for organizing tasks, but once you actually try to evaluate how work was done, there’s a gap. Without time estimates and logged hours, it’s really hard to compare planned vs actual effort or generate any meaningful reports. Even a simple progress indicator like “8h / 5h” on the task card would make a huge difference for teams that rely on this kind of insight.
